The walk
Brahmatal is for people who have heard of Kedarkantha and want the snow without the same footfall. The trail moves through oak forest to Bekal Tal, then to the Brahmatal lake and a summit ridge.
The camps are cold and the mornings are still. On a clear day the wall of Trishul is the reason you came.
We run it as a six-day trip from Kathgodam so the drives are not squeezed into the night.
You will remember
- Bekal Tal in the oak forest
- Brahmatal lake under snow
- Summit ridge facing Trishul
- Lower crowds than the classic winter routes
- Kathgodam pickup and drop
On this trail
Day by day
01 Day 1 · Kathgodam to Lohajung
Drive into the hills and stay at Lohajung. We use the evening to check shoes and agree the pace for the forest day.
02 Day 2 · Lohajung to Bekal Tal
A walk through oak and rhododendron to the lake. The camp is quiet, and the temperature drops as soon as the sun leaves.
03 Day 3 · Bekal Tal to Brahmatal
We climb to the higher lake and camp beside it. This is the night you will remember for the cold and the stars.
04 Day 4 · Summit and down toward the road
An early ridge walk to the Brahmatal top, then a long descent toward the road head. The views are the point of the early start.
05 Day 5 · Buffer and drive toward Kathgodam
A short buffer morning in case the summit weather moved, then we start the drive out and break it so nobody is on the hill road all night.
06 Day 6 · Drive to Kathgodam
The rest of the drive to Kathgodam. Evening trains are the ones that match this day.

If plans change
If we cancel the departure, you can move to another date or receive a refund of what you have paid.
If you cancel 30 days or more before the start, the trek amount is refunded minus a processing fee we state in your confirmation. Between 15 and 29 days, half is retained. Inside 14 days the departure is non-refundable, because the stay, food and guide team are already committed.

Questions on this trek
How is this different from Kedarkantha?
Similar winter snow, fewer people, and a longer trip because the road head is farther. The summit is a ridge rather than a single sharp top.
Is there mobile network?
Do not plan on it after Lohajung. Tell your family the dates before you leave Kathgodam.
Can the trip run with snow on the road?
If the drive is unsafe we move or cancel the departure. We would rather lose a date than push a night drive.
